Gene C. Bowen

Gene C. Bowen, 83, of Greencastle, Indiana passed away at 11:20pm on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by his children. He was born to the late Samuel and Pearl (Withrow) Bowen on October 12, 1940 in Haldeman, Kentucky. 

Gene was united in marriage on April 29, 1961, to Janeen Bloom, who preceded him in death. This union was blessed with three children, Howard, Dawneen, and Lisa. He worked for 34 years at Ford Motor Company as a bolt maker and inspector. Gene was a member of Greencastle Nazarene Church. 

He is survived by his loving children, Howard (Sondra) Bowen, Dawneen (David) Hardwick and Lisa (Brannon) Leonard, his brother, Jim (Sandy) Bowen and brother-in-law, Byron Bloom. As well as his grandchildren, Christopher (Sara) Bowen, Seth (Nikki) Bowen, Grace (Noah) Poynter, Alisha (Austin) Shumate, Isaiah and Jazmyne Hardwick. Gene will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Pearl, Oliver, Evie, Abel Bowen, Ayden, Kinsley, Tyler and Mason Bowen, Willow, Whitley and Waverlee Shumate. As well as numerous, very lowed nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Janeen, a grandson, Joseph Bumgardener, his brothers, sisters, sister-in-law, and a brother-in-law. 

A public visitation will take place Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel located at 2433 East Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. A funeral service will take place at 12:00pm, with Reverend Byron Bloom officiating. Gene will be laid to rest at 1:30pm in Floral Park Cemetery, 425 North Holt Road in Indianapolis, Indiana.
