Gayle Maxine Adams, 79, went to be with her Lord Thursday February 8, 2024, in Indianapolis, IN.
Gayle was born on August 1, 1944, in Britton, SD to Leslie W and Sylvina E Savey in Britton, SD. She was a graduate of Oakes State High School in Oakes, ND in May 1962. She went on to attend Minnesota Bible College where she met and married W. Herman Adams on June 5, 1965. Gayle graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sacred Music in May of 1966.
Gayle began a life in ministry alongside her husband Herman beginning in Pleasantville, IA in 1968. They served together in ministries over the years in South Bend, IN, Mishawaka, IN and Lansing, IL. Along with her years of ministry as a minister’s wife, she also taught piano lessons to dozens of children, passing on her love of music and playing the piano. Upon returning to central Indiana from Illinois in 1986, they settled in Kempton, Indiana, where Gayle began working in banking. Being a long-time member of East 91st Christian Church, in 1994, Gayle began a part time position with the church in Childrens Ministry. Later, Gayle and Herman moved to the northeast side of Indianapolis and Gayle took a full-time position with the church where she served faithfully in the Childrens Ministry until July of 2015.
Gayle was full of life, caring, loving, and devoted to God, her husband, her children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her church families. Along with her passion for music and playing the piano, she loved cooking for her family and other people as well as making ceramics.
Gayle is survived by her husband, W. Herman Adams of Indianapolis, IN, four children, Jeff (Beth) Adams of Louisville, KY, Steve (Shari) Adams of Richmond, IN, Melinda of Indianapolis and Aaron (Laura) Adams of Fortville, IN, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sharon Savey of Oakes, ND, nieces Kim (Mike) Brademeyer of Verona, ND, Fawn (Scott) Blixt of Oakes, ND, and Teri (Travis) Adolphs of Englevale, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Leslie E. Savey of Oakes, ND, nephews Paul Savey of Pocatello, ID and Lonnie Savey of Oakes, ND.
