Gary D. Williams

March 11, 1942 — September 1, 2023

Indianapolis

Gary D Williams, 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away September 1, 2023.  He was born on March 11,1942 to the late  Price and Norma Williams.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald G Williams, and his son, Gary M Williams.  Gary is survived and dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Jane; daughter, Barbara (Ronnie) Ott; sister, Janice Hunter; grandchildren, Avery, Everett, and Katheryn Williams, and Dawson Ott; D-I-L Nicole Williams; step-grandson Kevin Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis and was very proud of his Fighting Irish. In like fashion he followed another Fighting Irish football team, Notre Dame.  He spent four years in the US Air Force living in Syracuse, New York and Tachikawa, Japan.  Gary's professional career was in the insurance industry, primarily as a commercial underwriter.

Gary never knew a stranger and loved to entertain anyone and everyone with his "stories" which, more than often, were quite "embellished".  Fact and fiction were often blurred.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He   enjoyed life to the fullest and all the people in his life.

The family is not having any public viewing or service of any kind. They will meet privately at the cemetery before the entombment.  There will be a Celebration of Life at a later time but that date has not been determined.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Indianapolis or the Wounded Warrior Project.
