Gary Dean Claflin

Gary Dean Claflin, age 85, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on May 24, 2024. He was a graduate of Lima Senior, Lima, Ohio, in 1956, with a Bachelors from Anderson College, Anderson, Indiana, and a Masters from Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana.  

Gary was a teacher for the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township, Lawrence, Indiana, teaching U.S. History, Anthropology, and Psychology.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.  Gary was active in the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana.  His was involved in clubs that included being a Thespian, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, volunteer as church music director.  He loved to sing and perform in local programs.  Gary was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman that included camping, kayaking, canoeing and hiking. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Eileen Claflin and William Harold Claflin; brother, Richard Claflin and brother’s wife, Claudia.  Gary is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucyanne Claflin; son and son’s wife, Jeffrey Claflin and Linda; daughter and daughter’s husband, Melody Sickle and Jeff, and granddaughters, Kaitlyn Sickle and Kelly Sickle; sister, Jill Claflin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

At Gary’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
