Gary Alan Melton, age 37, of Greenfield, Indiana passed away on April 6th, 2020. Gary was born in Greenfield, Indiana on January 1st, 1983 to Rick and Leona Melton. He attended Greenfield-Central High School.
Gary loved life and was talented at working with his hands. He worked construction, landscaping, and tree trimming prior to the current quarantine.
Gary was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Indianapolis Colts, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Indiana Pacers. He enthusiastically hosted a Fantasy Football League each year. Gary was a very social person and always enjoyed getting together with family and friends to watch a game, grill out, or just hang out jamming to rock and roll music. His free time was also spent reading, learning, and discussing history, politics, and science. Of special interest to him was the prohibition era, physics, and space.
Surviving Gary are his parents, Rick and Leona Melton, his sister Erin (Ross) Sharp, and nephews Damien, Nathan, and Gavin Sharp. Also surviving is his grandmother, Maria Melton, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 11 a.m. at the Riley Museum Gardens (weather permitting) in Greenfield, Indiana with visitation following from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. at Lizbeth Ann’s Kitchen behind the Riley Museum. The service will be officiated by Rev. Carol McDonald of Northminster Presbyterian Church. In case of inclement weather, the service may be held inside at Lizbeth Ann's Kitchen.
