Glenell Baker was born November 8, 1946, in Chicago go, IL to her parents, Samuel Scott and Flora Quinn.
Glenell attended Forestville Grammar School when she was a child and also took private piano lessons. In her high school years she attended Dunbar High School in Chicago, IL and was Majorette in the school band. She loved to flaunt her big smile and baton twirling skills while her family cheered her on in her performances in the yearly Bud-Billiken Parades. At an early age Glenell accept Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Grant Memorial Baptist Church AME where she served as a Jr. Usher.
Growing into adulthood, Glenell enjoyed spending time with her cousin Clara Baker. Where you saw one; you’d see the other Glenell met her Soulmate, NewLee Sanders in the 1960’s. they would go out dancing, to the drive-ins, and she loved going on road trips with him.
Glenell was the mother of 5 children Shalette Baker of Chicago, IL who proceeds her in death, Unturell Sanders of Denver, CO, Delturon Sanders (Tonja) of Henderson, NV, Tyesheia Mwanangombe of Indianapolis, IN, and Shaqueita Blakemore of Indianapolis, IN.
She was the grandmother of a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her memory a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, along with her best friend Betty Williams, a special cousin Clara Baker. And special niece Dorothy Bishop-Hairston.
She is proceeded in death by both parents, Samuel Scott and Flora Quinn, her daughter Shalette Baker, her sister, Elizabeth Hairston (Juble), and her favorite aunt Narsis Baker, along with an uncle and two aunts.
