Gail Marie Schmid passed away peacefully at the age of 81on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020,
in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born December 10th, 1939, in Lakewood, Ohioto Bernard
“Bun” and Geraldine Hiller.
She was a 1957 graduate of Lakewood High School and a graduate of Ohio State University
1961, where she majored in education. She worked as an elementary school teacher for several
years. After her work in education, she was an administrative assistant at The Carmel Friends
Church in Carmel, Indiana until she later retired.
In her youth, her favorite pastime and hobby was to spend time with her parents and friends on
the waters of Lake Erie where she learned how to sail a boat before she could even drive a car.
Gail was an avid reader and writer. She loved poetry and going to see horror movies with her
youngest son. She enjoyed spending time with her other children and close friends. Gail was an
overall powerhouse of a woman who took no prisoners with her sense of humor and witty
tongue. She spent her whole life devoted to making sure her family was her number one priority.
She is survived today by her children Rick Schmid, Jennifer Moore and her fiance Eric
Sanders, David Schmid, and Michael and Carla Schmid. Gail is also survived by her
grandchildren Julienne, Michael and Ian Moore, Henry Schmid, and Lyra and Cody Schmid.
Visitation for Gail Schmid will be held on Tuesday, December 22nd from 11-1 p.m. at the Harry
Moore Chapel with Indiana Funeral Care at 8151 Allisonville Road Indianapolis, Indiana 46250.
