Fredric William Edstrom, Jr. was born May 2, 1947 to Gwendolyn and Fredric William Edstrom, Sr. in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1966 and attended Sam’s Electronic School. He married Melody Edstrom in 1976 and celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary April 3rd.
Fred’s other love was volunteering for the Warren Township Fire Department from 1971 -1992. One of many awards he was given was Honorary Lifetime Member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He was one of the Top Ten Runners of the district for many years - 350-400 runs per year. In 1972, he became a volunteer fire inspector; in 1974 earned the rank of Lieutenant; and in 1979 was awarded Fire Inspector of the Year. Fred was also a charter member and first acting president of the Fire Inspectors Association of Indiana. In recent years he owned and managed two rental properties. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Cumberland.
Other surviving family members include his mother, Gwendolyn Edstrom, his sister, Janine Swan, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be buried at Memorial Park Cemetery Friday, June 12th.
