Frederick James Bower, 51, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away in his home on November 21, 2019 from heart disease. Fred’s health had suffered in recent years, but his passing was sudden and unexpected.
Fred was born in Montreal, Quebec and moved to Indianapolis, IN as a child with his family. He went to Lawrence Central High School, Indiana University, and received a Masters of Fine Art degree from Cranbrook Art Institute. He taught graphic design at the University of Alabama and Indiana University, but spent most of his career as a professor in the Visual Communications Department of Ball State University. He was devoted to teaching and to his students.
Beloved son, brother, and uncle; he is survived by his parents, Jeffrey (97) and Jane (89); bother John (53); nephew MacKinlay “Mack” (26); nieces, Natalie (23) and Erin (27); aunts Nette McLean (80), Pat (93), Nan (90), Helen (86); and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Kristin (2015).
He will be forever missed.
