Frank Joseph Smith, 66, of Indianapolis passed away on September 24, 2021.
Frank was born on May 4th, 1955 in Indianapolis, son of the late Lorne Smith and Doris Ann Gann. On April 3, 1994, he married Shirley R. Smith (Shortridge),who survives him. Together, they shared 27 years of memories.
Frank worked as a baker at Long's Bakery. He was also self-employed as a roofer and a painter. He moved to his own beat and frequently did odd jobs for friends and loved ones.
Frank enjoyed making model cars and model planes. He had a love of gardening and a green-thumb. He adored children and was always the favorite uncle of nieces and nephews. Frank raised two children as his own, Rachael Killian and Zachary Shortridge.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley R. Smith (Shortridge); his children, Rachael Killian and Zachary Shortridge; his siblings, Anna Brown (Smith), Doris Ann Faught (Byerly), Eric Baucum, Bill Byerly; and his aunt Thersea and uncle Bill Callahan, uncle Joe and aunt Emily Renforth.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Doris Gann and Lorne Smith, two brothers; Lorne Smith Jr and John Byerly Jr, and his sister; Mary Kathy Byerly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank's memory may be sent to American Cancer Society.
