Francis Xavier Kenny

Francis Xavier Kenny, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather & great grandfather. Born November 5, 1936 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Evelyn M (Dunn) & Joseph A Kenny and grew up in Union, NJ.

He graduated valedictorian & was a varsity athlete from Oratory Preparatory School in Summit, NJ. He attended Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN in 1954. Frank graduated in 1958 with a BS in Commerce and later received a MBA from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in 1965. Frank met his wife Gerri who worked at Notre Dame library after immigrating from Limerick, Ireland in 1955 & they were married at the Sacred Heart Basilica Church on Notre Dame campus in August 1958, celebrating 63 years this month. Frank worked for Human Resources & Labor Relations at Western Electric/AT&T for a total of 31 years. He started in Jersey City, NJ & then transferred to Indianapolis in 1965, then to Columbus, OH in 1984 until he retired in 1990. They returned to Indianapolis to be close to children & grandchildren. Frank went to work at the American Lung Association of IN in 1991 where he worked for another ten years before retiring.

Frank enjoyed the men’s golf league at Sahm’s where he won the championship in 1992. After turning 60 he joined the senior league & enjoyed the competition & camaraderie. Frank remained an avid Notre Dame football fan. Frank always put his family first & loved the family vacations & gatherings which were many.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved brother Joe, his great-nephew Griffin Truesdell & his grandson Jason Morris. Frank will be deeply missed by his wife Gerri & his children, John, Anne (Tom Birch), Sharon (David) Morris, Janet (Terry) Sorg, his eight grandchildren, Marcus, Lindsey, Laura, Audrey, Megan, Rosalind, Emerson & Emily, ten great-grandchildren & extended family.

Frank will be cremated & there will be a private family celebration of his life. ☘️
