Francis Reginald Nance was born on October 8, 1958 to Jewell Venorian Cannon Nance and Otis Nance Sr.
Francis completed his early education in the IPS school systems. He graduated from Shortridge H.S. in 1976 as a Junior. While attending Shortridge, he ran track. His Hobby became Karate. He earned several trophies as recognition of his dedication and discipline. He also read and collected comic books and an assortment of movies.
He enlisted in the Armed Forces at the age of 17, starting out in infantry and later on as a combat field medic, where he served for over 30 years until he retired as a reservist. Excelling in his nursing duties, he also sought higher education and attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. Francis taught karate in the late 80’s and early 90’s. He also held 3rd degree Black Belt.
Amongst his tough exterior he was a generous and caring person. He also was a son, a brother, a husband, a friend, but most of all he was a dad!
Francis was raised “in the way a child should go,” strong spiritual family upbringing and beliefs with seven siblings.
He is preceded in death by his son Juan Nance Sr., his brothers Edwin (Eddie) and Rawlings, and his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife Vernetta Nance; children Luciana (Shanna), Lil Francis, Jonathan, Robert, and Javon; his siblings Otis II (Timmy), Jewell (Nunnie), Lloyd, Spencer, and Rodney; 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a number of aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
