Eunice Fay Leishman McKen, age 92, died on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Indianapolis, IN. Eunice was born on March 16, 1932 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. She was the youngest of six children born to Thomas Duncan Leishman and Attena Kate Anderson Leishman. Eunice grew up in the tiny town of Glenwood, Alberta and her life was filled with family, church, and school. Even in such a small community, Eunice was afforded opportunities for education, sports, piano lessons, and band.
After graduating from high school, Eunice attended the University of Alberta. It was there that she met her future husband, Herbert Garth McKen, who was a student in a nearby school. Eunice and Garth were married on September 6, 1952. Several years later, Eunice and Garth made the life-changing decision to move to Indiana so Garth could pursue an engineering degree. Eunice lived in Indiana for the rest of her life. Eunice earned Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education from Indiana University and taught elementary school for many years.
Eunice was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. Family and church were her focus. Eunice was a natural leader and a willing worker who contributed much to her family, her church, and her community.
Eunice is survived by her three children: Sandra (Randy) Myers of Carmel, IN, Teresa (Jeff) Sutton of Carmel, IN, and Bryant (Pam) McKen of Afton, WY. Eunice is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
