Eugene Martin Soots

Eugene Martin Soots, age 85, was welcomed into the Eternal Kingdom of Heaven at 11:25 am on Saturday, June 25, 2022. He was born Tuesday, May 4, 1937, to the late David A. and Ruth M. (Rafferty) Soots in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was a loving Christian father of three surviving children. Son, Danny Soots of Indianapolis; Daughters, Arlene (Soots) Stone of Indianapolis, IN, Valentina (Soots) Stover of Mooresville, IN.

He has four surviving siblings, Sisters, June (Soots) Collins of Alabama, Betty (Soots) Whitsit of Camby, IN, Phyllis (Soots) Thompson of Plainfield, IN; Brother, Jimmy Soots of Indianapolis, IN.

He was a loving Grandpa to seven grandchildren, Danny Ray Soots, Jason Soots, Brandon Stover, Brian Young, Jennifer Soots, Jessica Soots, and Rebekah Stover. Also, a loving Grandpa/” Opa” to twenty-five great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.  He had multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by Son, Allen Soots, Brothers, Robert Soots, David Jr. Soots, Sister, Joyce (Soots) Lucas, Grandson Jason Soots, and Great granddaughter Ellie Fishburn.

After serving 4 years in Germany with the United States Army, He returned to Indianapolis, IN where he worked multiple jobs, and then retired from Allison Transmissions after 30 years of service on August 1^st, 1992. He was a member of the UAW local union #933.

He attended Bluff Baptist Church and was still teaching Sunday school at the age of 85. He loved his family, Christian recitations, singing, and harmonica playing, fishing, putt-putt, and bowling. He always had a quick witty joke, and a tremendous sense of humor.

He will be greatly missed but remembered by anyone and everyone who knew him mostly for over 45 years of preaching the gospel, his servitude, and unwavering love of God, and his faithfulness and devotion to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation is Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel.

Funeral service will begin at 12:30 PM.

Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Garden, Greenwood, Indiana
