Eugene Everett Pfaffenberger

May 10, 1938 — October 10, 2024

Indianapolis

On October 21, 2024, Eugene Everett Pfaffenberger “Gene” of Indianapolis, IN left earthly life behind and went to be with his Savior, Jesus, in Heaven. He was born to Elmer and Ruth (Everett) Pfaffenberger on May 10, 1938, in Indianapolis, IN and had one sister Mary Ann.

He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1956 and from Purdue University in 1963. He was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation Gene went to work for the Link Belt Corporation and worked there as a design engineer until 1984. He then continued his career and eventually retired from the Rolls Royce company as Head of the Research and Development Department in 1999. Shortly after retirement he began work as a Consulting Engineer and continued working in that capacity until recently. He was a Life Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Tribologists and Lubricating Engineers. He held several patents and wrote and taught extensively in his area of expertise. Gene was known throughout the Engineering community for his body of work

Gene was known as a man who loved God’s word, the Bible, and studied it diligently. He attended Bible studies, and often taught adult Sunday School classes and various in-home groups. Just before his final illness he was working on a project developing a study on how to have a Biblical worldview.

Gene was married for 64 years to Judith S. Pfaffenberger and together they had four children; David (Tracy) Pfaffenberger of Mishawaka, IN, Julie Beth, Amy Lynn, and Daniel (Felicia Hester) of Carmel, IN; four grandchildren, Melody (Jeff) Wright of Portage, MI, Karie Pfaffenberger of Mishawaka, IN, Zechariah Pfaffenberger of Cleveland, OH and Mason Hester of Carmel, IN and two greatgrandchildren Liam Wright and Amy Lynn Wright of Portage, MI.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, his daughters, Amy in 1992 and Julie in 2018 and two nephews.

Gene loved his God, his family, his friends, his Church and his country!

“I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith, I have run the race. Therefore, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge will award to me on that day and not only to me but also to those who have loved his appearing.”

2 Timothy 4:6-7.
