On November 3, 2023, Eugene Allen Paige joined Annie, his beloved wife of 61 years, in eternal rest. “Gene” was born in New York City on October 31, 1935, and spent 10 years in the New York City School System.
In 1950 he moved to New Jersey and graduated from Tenafly H.S. in 1952 at age 16. He then went to work as a mail clerk in Pfizer’s Int’l HQ. He enrolled in night school and graduated from Pace College in 1958 with a degree in Professional Accountancy. He earned a Master’s Degree in industrial management from Rutgers University in 1962. He simultaneously served for more than a decade in the New Jersey National Guard finishing his service as an infantry unit commander. After a number of jobs of increasing responsibility in accounting, he was promoted to Chief Financial Officer for Pfizer Latin American division with HQ in Coral Gables, Florida, serving almost two decades in that position. He returned to New York in 1984 and retired from the pharmaceutical business in 1992, moving to Fishers to be near his children. He spent a number of years as the administrator of Price Vision Group. Gene was a member of the Financial Executives Institute and Old Oakland Golf Club. He was known for his vast knowledge on several subjects, with a determination of always completing the New York Times crossword puzzles. He often noted that it was important to learn something new every day.
He is survived by his brothers Raymond and Gerald, his daughter Pamela and her children Layne and Gwen, his son Kevin (Shari) and children Grace, Caroline and Luke, and his son Barry (Laura) and children Mitchell and Audrey. He was loved and will be missed. There will be a viewing at St. Louis De Montfort on November 13, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 amwith a funeral Mass to follow, with internment afterward at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
