Eron Elizabeth Jackson (91) of Indianapolis, Indiana, beloved wife of Jimmie Jackson for 52 years, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021.
Eron was born in Milan, Tennessee, October 5, 1929 to Mr. and Mrs. Frances Franklin. She spent her youth in Milan, and moved to Indianapolis as a teenager. Eron graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1947. After starting her family, she was employed by RCA for several years and volunteered as a tutor for struggling students at School #43. She was a member of the International Girls Aid League and was an avid Bridge player. Eron loved to crochet, knit, sew, and took a great deal of pride for her garden. Later in life, she grew a passion for completing challenging jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister (Earnestine), brother (Earl), one son (Lathan) and one stepson (Cedric).
She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmie, one son John Adam (Karen) Hollis of Atlanta, Georgia, five daughters Felicia Hollis Dorsey, of Cleveland Ohio, Winifred Wood, Geri Cushenberry, Kim (Harry) Campbell, and Chandra Hollis of Indianapolis, Indiana. Two stepdaughters, Sandra (Shannon) Mainer, of Tampa, Florida and Celeste Jackson of Indianapolis, Indiana; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Eron was known for her poise, class, and sense of style. But, it was her joyful, infectious laugh and smile that touched everyone she encountered. She was an avent Pacers fan, liked to travel and have fun. She loved being with her family and always had meaningful pieces of advice to give. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
