Ernest “Ernie” Lapier, 86, passed away on January 24, 2024, in Greenwood, IN. Ernie was born to his late parents, Clarence and Lillian Lapier, in Detroit Michigan on November 10, 1937.
Ernie served in the Army and was a proud member of the American Legion Post 252 of Greenwood. After his time in the military, he worked and retired from Chrysler Motors in Michigan. After retiring he went to work for PNC Bank of Greenwood as a teller.
Ernie was a loving husband to his wife, Evelyn Lapier, who will miss him dearly; stepfather to Bill, Claude, Thelma and Bonnie, Robert, Renetta, and Ronald; adopted father of John, Robert, Brandon, Kaylee Lapier; and grandfather of many. He loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew Ernie.
Ernie enjoyed watching sports especially his favorite team, the Detroit Lions, and classic cars.
The service will be held on Tuesday, January 30th at 2:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel with visitation being at 11:00 AM until the service time.
Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.
