Erin Michelle Wheat

Erin Michelle (Spanik) Wheat, 44, of Greenwood passed away on Thursday July 16, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Erin was born on April 18, 1976 to Dennis and Edna Spanik.

She graduated from Franklin Central High School in 1994. She earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Ivy Tech and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing degrees both from the University of Indianapolis.

Erin worked as a dedicated nurse at Franciscan Alliance for the last several years. Erin dedicated herself to the service of others and she touched many lives over the course of her nursing career.

Erin was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart and she would do anything to see her children and grandchildren smile.

Erin is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years, John Wheat. Her two sons, Anthony Wheat and Joshua Wheat. A stepdaughter, Jennie Wheat, a brother Matthew Spanik, her parents Dennis and Edna Spanik, three grandchildren Lily, Connor, and Corbin, her grandmother Margaret Spanik, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Erin was preceded in death by her grandmother Goldie, her grandfather Joe Spanik, and her mother in law Carol Wheat.

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic church on Friday July 24th at 11am. Services are casual and are open to family and friends, however, the number of attendees is limited due to COVID-19. In honor of Erin's love for sharks of any kind, shark attire is asked to be worn to the service. However, casual wear of any kind is fully acceptable.
