Emma June Thompson, age 85, of Avon, IN entered into eternal rest on January 19, 2023.
June was born June 17, 1937 in rural Daviess County, IN, the daughter of the late Forrest and Grace (Smith) Meyers. She grew up near Loogootee, IN and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1955. She then moved to Indianapolis to live with an aunt and attend Lane Business School. It was at Lane school where she met her future husband Samuel (Sam) Thompson, as he was enrolled in Lane Technical Institute. Sam and June were married in 1957, and moved to Avon in 1961, where they have resided since.
June worked for many years as a Library Assistant at the Avon-Washington Township Public Library. After her retirement, she continued to work as a volunteer at the library. She was a long time member of the Friends of the Avon Library organization; a member of White Lick Presbyterian Church, where she helped start a youth group and served in various leadership roles; and a member of The Gideons International. June was an avid reader, and enjoyed her garden, traveling and spending time at her and Sam’s cottage in the woods on West Boggs Reservoir in Loogootee.
June is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Sam D. Thompson; three sons, Gary Thompson (Susan) of Gosport, Bruce Thompson (Geralyn) of McCordsville and Karl Thompson of Speedway; seven grandchildren, Joshua Thompson, Bethany (William) Harriman, Eric Thompson, Emma Thompson, Jeremy (Tiffany) Thompson, Daniel Thompson and Jessica Thompson; five great-grandchildren; brother Col. James B. Meyers (Sandra). She is preceded in death by her parents Forrest and Grace Meyers; brother Forrest Stanley Meyers; parents in-law Dean and Mabel Thompson.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023, at White Lick Presbyterian Church – 2530 N. County Road 600 East, Avon, IN. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m
