Elizabeth (Betty) May Mattingly, 89, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was the second oldest of six children born to John and Florence Becker. She married the love of her life, Gerald Mattingly, on September 6, 1952, after graduating from Saint Agnes High School. Survivors include her nine children: Catherine Meyerrose (Tim deceased), Daniel (Susan), Thomas (Cindy), Jeffrey (Annette), Susan Heinzman (Mike), Virginia Kirschner (Kevin), Diana Parker, Angela Bates (Jon), and Gerald (Cindy deceased). She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two soon arriving angels, her brother Robert Becker (Barbara), and brother-in-law Charles Mattingly and many loving nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, brothers Donald, John and James Becker, and her sister Barbara Fritz. Betty’s long and remarkable life included a passion for doll collecting, traveling, organizing card parties with her many friends, creating beautiful wedding flower arrangements, church choir, casino hopping and her love of garage sales. She spent many years volunteering at St. Matthew Catholic School, well-known for her animated children’s storytelling and directing short plays. Visitation will be held at Saint Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46240, on Friday, September 15 beginning at 10 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at 12 P.M. Burial will follow at Flanner and Buchanan Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
