Elizabeth Ann Turpin, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 14, 2020. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 26, 1935 to the late Oris and Vera (Parker) McCoy.
She attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, with the Late United States Senator Richard Lugar, graduating in 1953. In 1957, Elizabeth attended Butler University where she got her degree in elementary education. She returned to Butler University in 1967 to get her master’s degree.
Elizabeth married John Franklin Turpin at Allisonville Christian Church on July 28, 1960. They were married for 50 years until he passed away on December 6, 2010. In March of 1963, they had their son Walter Turpin. She has been a member of East 91st Street Christian church since 1994.
She started her career as a teacher in Indianapolis. Elizabeth moved to Florida to teach from 1968 – 1974, but moved back to Indiana to care for her father.
Elizabeth enjoyed traveling. She visited London, Spain, Switzerland, and Austria to name a few. She also loved to watch NASCAR.
She is survived by her son Walter Turpin, and is preceded in death by her parents and Late husband John Franklin Turpin.
Services for Elizabeth will be private. She will be buried at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
