Eleanor Nancy Ehresman, age 72 of Hoosier Village, Zionsville, Indiana. formerly of Glenview, Il, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, from Acute Leukemia.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Tania Goralczyk.  Eleanor is survived by her husband Ron, her brothers Stephen Goralczyk, John (Laurelyn) Goralczyk, Tom (Pamela Goralczyk, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was a second generation American having parents who survived German work camps before coming to the United States.  Eleanor studied at Purdue University and received a degree in business before getting her accreditation as a Certified Public Accountant. She worked in banking in Indiana and then in Chicago having moved there after the death of her first husband.  She then became the controller of a friend’s jewelry business.

Shortly after her marriage to Ron, whom she met at First Presbyterian church of Evanston, IL she was asked to be the church’s business manager.  After leaving that job, she began working at Moody Bible Institute and spent many years as Treasurer before her retirement two years ago.

Eleanor and Ron spent many years as members and volunteers at First Presbyterian Evanston, working with small groups, International Students, Missions and serving as Elders, Deacons, and Trustees at the church.  Eleanor also served faithfully on the memorial reception team until she moved to Hoosier Village two years ago. A highlight of their married life has been their 30 years of involvement in a small fellowship group which began at First Presbyterian and has continued even though members have moved around the U.S. and the world.

Before retiring, Eleanor began serving as a volunteer with International Fellowship of Evangelical Students/USA (IFES/USA) as their treasurer, and then serving on the international finance board of IFES. She loved serving in this organization, especially because of the deep friendships she developed with colleagues around the world.

Eleanor was a member of over 8 book clubs, some in libraries, some in churches, some in condo associations, and on the campus of Hoosier Village in Zionville.  In her younger years she sometimes read 200 books in a year.

Eleanor and Ron became members of the Second Presbyterian church of Indianapolis, IN just prior to her death.
