Eldon Kaulei (Komo) Kahalekomo peacefully left his earthly body on January 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born February 27, 1951, on the island of Kauai in the Territory of Hawaii, Kaulei was raised in the traditional island lifestyle where family, food, and music were most highly valued. He graduated from Waimea, Kauai High School in 1970, where he was an outstanding and honored athlete in basketball and football.
Kaulei served honorably in the United States Army from March of 1977 to March of 1983.
In 1983 he met and married his wife of 41 years, Joyce (Dale). That union created twin sons, Kelii (Lisa) Kahalekomo and Leimana Kahalekomo and a daughter, Kathryn (Derek Moore) Kahalekomo.
In 1989, he left his beloved Kauai to return to the mainland with his young family. He retired from Ball State University in 2016, following 19 years of service. An avid bowler, Kaulei bowled on many leagues and had several perfect 300 games. Golfing (especially with his daughter) was his other favorite pastime, along with working jigsaw puzzles and watching NFL football.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Jennie Keuma, sister Donna Tokuoku, and brother Dalsay Keuma.
He is survived by his sister, Charlene (Gabe) Kerwin, and brothers Keenan (Susan) and Kainoa (Healani) Keuma.
Kaulei is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Kelii's family: Kali, Kelsi and Karson. Leimana's family: Ashland, Briley and Cameron. Katie's family: Keala, Alakai, Leilani, Audrey and KaVon. They were all the light of his life.
