Elbert Roeder Jr., age 82, Greenwood, IN, went quietly to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on December 2, 2019. Elbert (Sonny) was born on January 10, 1937 in Dugger, Indiana. Elbert graduated from Anderson University and went on to receive a Doctorate of Divinity from the Anderson Theological Seminary. On February 3, 1959, Elbert married Muriel Jacqueline Schrank in Lakeland, Florida.
Elbert ministered to many churches throughout the Midwest finally retiring from the ministry while residing in Niles, Michigan and moved to Greenwood, IN to be around his family. Elbert was a family man who always enjoyed quartet singing, sports, fishing, gardening and being with his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Muriel Jacqueline (Schrank) Roeder and Sister Marylyn Brown (Raymond) of Anderson, IN. Elbert was the father of four children; Michael Roeder (Amy) of Sulphur Springs, IN, Pamela Alfieri (Tim) of Senoia, GA, Douglas Roeder (Yvonne) of Kansas City, MO. and Marrietta Riley (Jeff) of Greenwood, IN. Elbert is also survived by 11 grandchildren; David, Matthew, Rachel, Abigail, Brittany, Anthony (Savannah), Nick, Holly, Josef, Hunter, Conner.
Elbert was preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Hannah Roeder, his sister Carolyn McCarty, Son-in-Law Timothy Alfieri and niece Monica Kimmerling.
Visitation will be December 6, 2019 at South Meridian Church of God, 7800 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46217 with public viewing 10:30a.m.-12:00p.m. with a service immediately following from 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m.
