Edwin Mauritz Marberg

Edwin M Marberg; known to family and friends as Ed, passed away on Saturday 8.13.22.  He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Peg) Marberg, who passed away in December 2019. Ed and Peg had been married 63 years at the time of her death.

Ed is survived by his sons Edwin and Richard Marberg. Also surviving is his daughter Ann-Margret Marberg. He has 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 1 great grandson.

Ed was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1935. He attended Morgan Park Military Academy and graduated from Parker High School. In 1954 Ed received a football scholarship to University of Illinois -Chicago campus. He was awarded a letter in football his freshman year. In 1968, Ed graduated with a BS degree in Business from Valporaiso University.

 In 1956, he married Peg Marberg and resided in the south suburbs of Chicago until 1984. During this time, Ed and Peg raised their 3 children and were active in the community. They both enjoyed golfing and travel.

Ed was successful in the manufacturing business. In 1983, Ed’s career brought him and Peg to Crawfordsville, Indiana. Ed was the CEO of MCM and owner of Midstates Wire, Chicago Steel and Wire and Wilson Steel and Wire. In 1998, Ed retired from the wire industry. He and his wife enjoyed splitting their time between their homes in Arizona and Indiana.

After retirement, Ed combined his love of travel with riding his motorcycle. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Ed was an outstanding businessman, loving family man and good friend to many. The lives he touched will be less vibrant with his absence.
