Dr. LaTrece Coleman-Stone

Dr. LaTrece Coleman-Stone, 70, was born to Alvia B. Coleman and Sarah L. (Hammond) Coleman on March 30, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She transitioned to her eternal home on February 6, 2024.

Dr. Coleman-Stone will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grammie & GiGi and a friend to many. She was an avid skater, known as the Shady Lady, and a lover of books that enjoyed the adventures of several authors. Her lifelong love of learning kept her busy in school ultimately culminating in a Doctoral Degree. She enjoyed spending time with her family, eating good food that she didn’t have to cook, getting up close personal (front row concert tickets) with Smoky Bill, Nick & Val, and Jeffery as well as playing with the “House’s money” in Las Vegas.

LaTrece began her undergraduate degree at Indiana University and finished at Martin University in 1998. She committed to completing her degree as an example to her daughters. Her star continued to rise as she accepted larger challenges including her volunteer service coordinating back to school supplies drives, Toys for Tots, and Coats for Kids in both Indianapolis & Las Vegas. In her life of service, she was dedicated to assisting people including finding new homes for nearly 5,000 disaster recover survivors that relocated to Las Vegas after Hurricane Katrina. She continued in this service until her retirement from SNRHA in 2017. After retiring she returned home to Indianapolis to enjoy her retirement with her mother, children and grandchildren. In her last act, she continued her higher education in hopes of helping people plan for their transition to the next life.

Dr. Coleman-Stone leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Albrina, Andrenique & Adreanna, her grandchildren Anya, Gavin & Jeremiah, her brothers Albert & Phillip, nieces Erika & Tisha and nephew Phillip Jr., and family & friends from far and wide.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvia & Sarah, her nephews Arvine & James.

Family and friends are welcome to gather in celebration of Dr. Coleman-Stone’s life on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 11:00am – 1:00pm to share positive moments from her past with her family to leave them more happy memories at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN, 46250.
