Douglas Earl McKee

Douglas Earl McKee, 73, of Daleville, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord and
Savior Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was a wonderful Husband, Father, and Grandfather.
Douglas was born July 14, 1948 in Middletown, IN to the late Hilton McKee and Opal
(Dasher) McKee.
Douglas graduated from Middletown High School, and then graduated from Ball State
University with a degree in Accounting.
He was a CPA and he retired from the Indiana Pacers where he was Vice President of
Finance after working there for over 30 years.
In 1971, he met the love of his life, Kathy J Henry, and they wed soon after on July 10,
1971. Together they shared 50 years and many adventures with their son Justin, family
and friends.
He was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church for 39 years where he helped out
with clearing the parking lots in winter. Douglas was a good Christian man. He was a
genuine gentleman! His character, integrity, and honesty was extraordinary and
noticeable to all those he had professional contact with. Everybody that met Douglas
said the same thing; what a nice and kind person he was. His funny, yet dry humor was
a hit with almost anybody he was with. He didn’t light up a room, but he warmed it up
with his presence.
He enjoyed motorcycles, boating, waterskiing, traveling and just having a good time
with family and friends. He loved to listen to country music, 50’s music and gospel
music. He loved his TV dramas and was an avid reader. He enjoyed helping out his
neighbors by keeping the streets plowed in the winter and helping out where needed.
He and his wife raised Shetland Sheepdogs and was loved by his pets Castle, Bliss,
Sunny, Derby, Rayna, Taylor, Lyric, Mia and Luna to name a few. He was a member of
Central Indiana Shetland Sheepdog Club where he held the positions of Treasurer and
Equipment Manager for many years.
He endured many health issues with Type 1 Diabetes that led to Heart Disease.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents Hilton and Opal McKee, and sister,
Wilma McKee Ehman, Father-in -law; Earl A Henry.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kathy J McKee, son Justin D
(Tracy) McKee; grandchild, Lillian Grace McKee and step-grandchild, Bailey Fitch,
Sister; Marjorie (Tom) Gates, Mother-in law; Trilby Lee Henry, Sister-in-law; Deborah
(Brad) Keiter, Brother-in-law; Timothy (Gail) Henry, Larry Ehman and extended family and friends.
A Celebration of life will be held at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 8140 Union Chapel
Rd, Indianapolis, IN Saturday, March 12, 2022 with visitation from 1:00pm-2:00pm with
the memorial service immediately following. The family invites you to attend to share
stories, and pay respects.
