Dorothy Ray, 81, Passed from this life unexpectedly, Dec 1, 2021, at her home.
Born Dec 21, 1939 in Greensburg, IN to Donald and Lucy Foster. She was a graduate of
Greensburg High School where she was a member of FBLA and booster club. She married
Larry Ray on June 7, 1958, who preceded her in death, 2 months short of 60 years of marriage. She
worked in retail at Hook's, Lazarus, Linder's and RCA. Her and Larry traveled and worked at Denali
State Park in Alaska at the hotel Gift Shop and lived there 5 summers. She loved the beauty of the
mountains and the last frontier. They were able to see the beauty of the Northern Lights and Mt Denali,
along with all the other sights and wildlife. She enjoyed painting, Red Hat ladies, traveling, and living the
RV life with her husband, visiting all the Western states and living in southern Texas for several years.
She was able to travel this past summer and visited several eastern states with her family.
She greatly loved all her children, grandchildren and great -grandchildren. She never
missed a performance, concert or game any of them participated in. She made photo albums for each
grandchild which she gave to them when they graduated high school. She was a Girl Scout Leader for
many years, taking girls camping, to museums, hiking, sleepovers and holiday parties.
Dorothy had a good sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She enjoyed funny imitations, jazz and
Rock music and acting silly with her grandchildren. She was there when you needed someone.
Survivors include daughters, Debra (Carl) Greenwood, Diana Ray, sons, Michael (Cynthia) Ray,
Gary (Kellie) Ray, grandchildren, Lillie (Kyle) Wethington, Matthew Greenwood, Nick (Rachel) Ray,
Natalie (Kyle) Gross, Jordan Ray, Emily (Sean) Dungan, Rachael (Aaron) Colman, Brian (Mary) Ray and 12
great-grandchildren. Siblings, Betty Harrison and George (Rita) Foster, sister in law Helen Foster.
Predeceased by her parents, husband Larry Ray, grandson Ryan Ray, daughter in law Sharon Ray,
brothers, Donald (Pat) Foster Jr and Richard Foster, brother in law, Howard Harrison.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec 11, 2021 at Greenwood Wesleyan Church 198 N Emerson
Ave, Greenwood, IN at 1:00pm
