Dorothy Jean (Clampit) Heald, 88, of Danville, Indiana passed away on February 3, 2021 after a short illness with Covid-19 Pneumonia.
She was born January 21,1933 in the Prairie Grove Community, Drew County, Arkansas. Her parents were Calvin Ernest Clampit and Scottie Myrtle (Thurman) Clampit.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Maurice Heald; her parents; brothers Willard Clampit, J.C. Clampit, Ira Doyle "Pete" Clampit.
She is survived by her son, Darwin Heald of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Carla (Heald) Cook of Danville, Indiana; grandaughter, Rachel Cook (Jesse) of Ocala, Florida; brother, Jerry (Mary) Clampit of Monticello, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dorothy's home health nurse, Julie.
Dorothy moved to Houston, TX in 1952 and obtained a job at Southwestern Bell. She later transferred to Michigan Bell, which through the years had many name changes. She retired with 40 years of service from AT&T. In 2010 she moved to Danville, Indiana to be closer to her daughter. She enjoyed crocheting, and her passion was genealogy. She also found great joy visiting with family and with her friends at the Hendricks County Senior Center.
Cremation has taken place and her remains will be buried at the Lacey Cemetery, Monticello, Arkansas.
