On July 21, 2024, Doris Warner, age 90, died peacefully in her home in Martinsville, IN and went home to Jesus in heaven. Doris was born on June 13, 1934, to Sam and Bessie (Walker) Sanchez in Cheyenne, WY. She had 7 siblings, all who preceded her in death. At the age of 7, her mother died, and circumstances led to her living with her maternal aunt and uncle. Doris graduated from LaGrange High School in LaGrange, WY.
At age 19 she met Lloyd Warner and they were married on her 20th birthday, June 13, 1954. Most of their lives they lived on a farm in western Nebraska. Doris was involved in her community with 4-H and school events. She was also very active in serving and teaching children in their church, Kiowa Community. In their later years they moved to Rapid City, SD and six years ago to Martinsville, IN. She loved flowers, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. Doris and Lloyd had four children: Pam Humphries (Burt), Gloria Costa (Chris), Cheryl Tonkin (Steve), and Corey Warner (Sarah). They have 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
This past year Doris was diagnosed with ALS, a disease that robbed her of her physical strength but not her spirit. To the very last of her life, her kind character, faith, and trust in God remained strong.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, 6605 Maple Grove Rd, Martinsville IN.
