Donaa’ David Patterson was born on August 27, 1989 in South Bend, IN; he accepted Christ early in his life and was a student at St. John Lutheran School in Peru, IN. Donaa’ attended Merle Sidener Middle School in Indianapolis and was a member of the school’s city-wide undefeated basketball team in 2003-2004. Donaa’ was a student of North Central High School and Fisher High School, and after completion, he studied Construction Trades through Ivy Tech Community College. After obtaining a forklift operator’s license in 2008, throughout most of his life, Donaa’ operated heavy machinery for several companies, and was especially proud of having been part of the team that helped construct the stadium for the New Jersey Nets.
At one point, Donaa was a loving companion to Mary Butts and a devoted husband to Terra Patterson; and while these relationships ended, he remained the doting, loving, and proud father of Levi David Patterson, Isabella Journey Patterson, and Melah Sue Patterson, and a father-figure to Isaiah Butts, Makaylee Butts, and Malik Butts.
Donaa’s presence on this Earth was all too brief, and his sudden departure has deeply affected his mother Rosalynn Patterson, sister Allison Patterson, niece A’riyah Harris, great-uncle Roscoe Hall (Eldeen), and godfather, Dr. Douglas L. Hall. Donaa’ also had a special bond with the following Indiana relatives, from whom he often sought guidance and wisdom, LaTanya Eddington, R. Derek Hall, and Marcus Hall; he leaves behind a host of cousins to mourn his passing. Donaa’ was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David Patterson and Catherine Hall, and his maternal uncle and godfather, Brian Hall.
Also left to cherish Donaa’s memory are Gannon Thomas (Felicia), James Lewis, Regina Marshall, Elizabeth Higgins, Dessy Slater, and Tanisha Marshall, and their children.
Donaa’ was very much loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
