Donna Fay (Rigdon) Blackwell, 71, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at her home with family by her side. Donna was preceeded in death by her parents Collins and Margaret Rigdon, sister Patricia Hampton, brother Ronald Rigdon, daughter Jessica Kolacek Welch, and grandson Kyle Kolacek Welch. Donna is survived by her husband Michael Blackwell, sister Karen Greenwell, son Bill Kolacek, daughters Hannah Kolacek and Tracy Bowen, son-in-law Wilgues Jean-Pierre, granddaughters Phoebe, Sylvina, Hailee, Anya, and grandson Mandela.
She was born on Saturday, January 21, 1950 to Collins J. and Margaret R. (Constant) Rigdon in Louisville, Kentucky. The Rigdon family moved to Beech Grove, Indiana when Donna was very young where she remained living on the southside of Indianapolis for most of her life.
Donna attended Franklin Central High School where she graduated in 1968. Soon after, Donna married Bill Kolacek from Fairland, Indiana with whom she had two daughters and one son (Jessica, Hannah, and Bill). Donna attended Cosmetology school and worked as a Hair Stylist for the better part of 30 years.
Donna was divorced in 1977 but would later remarry Michael Blackwell in 1984 and remained together until her passing. Donna and Michael met while working at Kroger Bakery on English Avenue in Indianapolis. Donna left Kroger Bakery and began working for House of Lloyds as a very successful home party sales consultant. With her success, Donna and Mike were able to travel the world (Italy, Brazil, Turkey, Spain, and Greece) and they absolutely loved it. Donna succeeded in several different professions over the years (Activities Director for American Seniors, Jewelry Sales, etc.) but the one most important to her was that of a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many. She poured her heart and soul into her family always being the biggest and best cheerleader!
Donna and Mike loved taking long motorcycle rides whether it be here in Indiana or cross country. Additionally, they both loved being a part of a the American Poolplayers Association where she played on several leagues over the years. Donna had a competitive spirit but was always there to offer support and friendship.
Lastly, Donna was a lover of all things shiny, sparkly, and bold. From her hair color and jewelry collection to her overall style, she always loved things that made her and others feel happy. Donna leaves behind a sparkling legacy of love, friendship, and passion for life. She will truly be missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 27, 2021 11:30 am until 2:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm
