Donald "Don" R. Chipman, 84, of Franklin, Indiana passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at home surrounded by family. He was born in San Bernardino, California on Sunday, August 8th, 1937, to Frederick and Frances Chipman.
Don married Shirley Beach on Saturday, August 30th, 1958, and they were married for 63 years. He was very proud of his military service in the Army. Don retired from Vons Grocery company after 34 years in the industry. He played semi-professional baseball, coached baseball for Pony League, little league, and high school. Don volunteered as a marshal for major collegiate, PGA, and LPGA gold tournaments in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was honored for his service with a ceremony and plaque that is displayed at the Summerlin Golf Course in Nevada. Don's hobbies include yard sales, estate sales, restoring old furniture, golf, hunting, fishing, and general fiddling around the house and yard. He enjoyed helping others and Christmas decorating. After moving to Indiana in 2018, he became a part of the "Hoosier Santa's" group, pursuing his true passions for everything Christmas and Santa Claus. Don also worked part-time as an usher at Victory Field and marshal at Legends Golf Course in Franklin.
Don is survived by his loving wife; Shirley Beach, his brother; Ken (Sandy) Chipman, his sons; Craig (Robin) Chipman and Mark (Linda) Chipman, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, dozens of nieces and nephews, his beloved dog; Ralphie, as well as many elves and reindeer.
Services will be held at 11:00am at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022. In lieu of flowers, Don and the family would appreciate contributions to Riley Hospital for Children.
