Donald J. Phelps

Donald J. Phelps, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at his home.

He was born on Thursday, August 11, 1938, to the late Everett E. and Nora (Sears) Phelps in Indianapolis, Indiana. Donald started his sheet metal career at the age of 18, and after 44 years he retired as the owner of Indy Sheet Metal. During his retirement years Donald and his wife enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating and being snowbirds in Naples, Florida. He also loved bowling, playing golf and the Indianapolis Colts.

Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosalyn Phelps; children, Penny Baase (Bob), Jeff Phelps, Kim Hertzing (Brad); 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and his beloved beagle of 13 years, Darcy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett, and Nora Phelps; brothers, Earl Phelps, Harold Phelps, Ronald Phelps; sisters, Pauline Stuart, Penny Moore, Betty Guidone, Evelyn Chappell; sons-in-law, Scott Kroening, Mike Lollar; and daughter-in-law, Conchita Phelps.

Visitation is Saturday, June 17, 2023, 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Southport Presbyterian Church, 7525 McFarland Blvd, Indianapolis, IN 46237.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm

Memorial contributions in honor of Donald can be made to Southport Presbyterian Church
