Donald Karl Snyder born August 2, 1939 to J. Karl Snyder and Thelma I. {Davis} Snyder in Terre Haute, Indiana was called to his Heavenly Home on April 22, 2020.
Don enjoyed baseball, fishing, and camping in his youth and basketball and sports cars in his adult years, but his passion throughout his life was daily word and number puzzles. A highly intelligent man, his family would joke with him while watching episodes of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune because he always knew every answer. An avid reader, Don enjoyed James Patterson novels and was a devoted scripture reader, reading the Bible every night before retiring to bed.
Mr. Snyder was a 1957 graduate of Pimetto High School in Vigo County, Indiana. Upon graduating, he entered the work force and eventually gained employment at General Motors in Indianapolis, Indiana where he retired in 1991 at the age of 52 as the Tool and Die Cutter Supervisor at GM Truck and Bus. Don was a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana for over 50 years until relocating with his wife to New Whiteland, Indiana a few years back to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
It is no secret that Don’s greatest love and devotion was reserved for his family. Married to the love of his life, Wilda “Billie” {Hahn} Snyder, for the past 45 years, Don lead by example of how to build beautiful marriage.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, sister Virginia M. LaFollette, and brother Paul Snyder. He is survived by his sister Betty Jo Hayhurst of Terre Haute, Indiana.
In addition to being survived by his beloved wife, Billie, Don leaves behind six children: Don “Jr.” (Tina) Parks, Donna (Doug) Hawk, Anthony “Jerry” (Angela) Parks, Butch Sutton, Kimberly (Andrew) Dove, and Melissa (Jeff) Truelove; 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Per Don’s request, there will be no services has his wishes were to have family and friends remember him for the man he was and to simply celebrate his memory privately and individually. Don’s family has chosen to honor his wishes.
Don will be truly missed by all.
