Diane Vaughan Allen Plantenga transitioned to her next adventure on March 10, 2022. She was born August 18, 1942 in Lafayette, Indiana.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 61 years, David, son Bradley (Leslie), daughter Christine (Jim), son Bryan (Tina), daughter Denise, grandchildren Wesley (Ariel), Jacob (Teighlor), Logan (Jacob), Seth (Chloe), Aeon, and Valyn, and seven great grandchildren (including two sets of twins!). Also surviving are her brother Patrick (Jane) and sister Kathleen.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents Camilla Vaughan Allen Brant and Richard Allen, and her twin brother Raymond (Charlene).
An avid reader, Diane was usually the most knowledgeable person in the room on most topics. She had a sharp, rapid wit and enjoyed making people laugh. She will be remembered as a good friend to many - always willing to help and comfort the people she loved.
Philanthropic and creative, Diane volunteered as the seamstress for decades of dance recitals, civic theater performances, and also enjoyed taking ballet classes herself for nearly 50 years - including via zoom during the height of the pandemic.
Diane could make just about anything - from the last thing she tried at a restaurant, to a bespoke dress for a fancy party. She strived to make her home unique and inviting, from figuring out how to recreate a room she saw in a designer home tour, to making elegant and brilliant solutions to decorating.
Diane requested donations be made in her name to the Democratic National Committee in lieu of flowers. A private celebration for family is being planned in the future.
