Her Mother named her Alberta, her father called her Dolly and her husband affectionately nicknamed her Andy. She introduced herself as Diana, but her favorite names to hear were Mama, Grandma or Nana. She was born in Anderson, Indiana and spent most of her life raising a large family with her adoring husband, George. Diana lived a beautiful life as a hard worker, wife and mother. Diana and George retired together to head west for big adventures. They resided in Wyoming and roadtripped the California coast. They returned home to central Indiana to enjoy life as retired grandparents to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. George passed in 2000, but Diana did not stop living the good life. She continued showering her growing family with love and wisdom. We were blessed to learn many lessons from “Mama”. Here are a few of the important ones:
Always ask a stranger their name, now they are no longer a stranger.
Birthdays should always be celebrated with a special song.
Everyone is invited to the Holiday dinner table.
Blood does not matter, family are the ones you chose to love.
Diana passed peacefully in her home with family surrounding her. She was welcomed to heaven with open arms by Parents Earl and Annabelle (Haines) Wheeldon. Husband George R Lovins Sr and sons: George R Lovins Jr., John F Lovins, Glen R Lovins and Vincent J Lovins. Her spirit is carried on by her children: Angela Lovins, Pam Gee, Terry Pittman, Tad Abbott, David Lovins, Marilyn (Suzy) Lovins, Donna Lovins and Maggie Lovins. Additionally she was blessed with Seventeen grandchildren, great grandchildren and an extended community of “family” who continue to honor her.
