Dennis Peter Nichols passed away at the age 73 (almost 74) in Indianapolis, IN on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. He was born on Friday, August 13, 1948, in New York City to Peter and Anne Nichols, who lived in Queens, NY for their entire lives.
Dennis graduated with a BS from Butler University in 1970. He later received his Executive MBA from Northern Illinois University. It was at Butler that Denny the Delt from Delta Tau Delta met Jan Lou Bryant from Pi Beta Phi. Denny and Jan were married on August 19, 1972, celebrating fifty years together this month. Throughout their marriage they lived in more than a dozen homes in eight different states. A scientist turned into a salesman, he climbed the corporate ladder to CIO and owned a small business before retiring.
Denny is survived by his wife Jan Nichols, his four children, Melissa Wiley (Luke Wiley), Trent Nichols (Misty Nichols), Lindsay Kelley (Drew Kelley), Blair Bryant Nichols, and his eight grandchildren.
In addition to spending time with his family, Denny enjoyed golf and sports, traveling, and most importantly dining. Dennis became a foodie later in life and enjoyed seeking out gourmet meals and innovative chefs. He loved theater and the musicians from his high school and college days and was an avid consumer of television, movies and documentaries, books, podcasts and more. He was constantly learning and sharing things he found interesting. His devilish humor and appetite for life will be missed but carried on.
