Denise Bussey

Denise Bussey, born May 12, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 22nd, 2025, at the age of 71. She was the beloved daughter of Kitty Jean Parrish and Rufus Bussey, and a proud graduate of Crispus Attucks High School.

Denise led a life full of passion and adventure, being an avid traveler. She served her country with honor, joining the military in 1978, where she was part of the Army Reserve and then later, Air Force. Her dedication to service was only one of the many aspects that made her special.

A talented and creative individual, Denise was not only a skilled barber but also a culinary artist, always bringing a personal touch to everything she did. She had a deep love for motorcycles, being an active member of the Mongols and former member of the Nobody’s motorcycle clubs and could often be found out on the open road with friends. Denise’s enthusiasm for life extended to many areas, including her love for bowling, fishing, bingo, and her vibrant social life.

Denise had an independent, free-spirited nature, and she will be remembered for her zest for life, her contagious smile, and her dedication to the people she loved.

She is survived by bonus moms Pauline Bussey and Anne Radford, as well as her siblings: Tomiko (Teri) Radford, Henry (DeShawn) Radford, Pat Walker, Alan Bussey (Annie Bussey), Eric Bussey, and Paula Brooks (Michael Brooks), bonus brother James Radford (Dink). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who considered her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Kitty Jean Parrish and Rufus Bussey, special aunt Juanita Bussey, along with siblings Darryl Parrish, Cheryl Gibson, Lamont Radford, and bonus brothers Laymond Radford Jr..

Denise’s legacy of love, adventure, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Services will be held on Monday, March 3rd with visitation beginning at 2:30pm followed by a memorial service at 3:30pm at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd Indianapolis, IN 46250.
