Dean Edward Burtner

Dean Edward Burtner, 53, of Pendleton, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. 

Dean was born January 6, 1970, in Indianapolis Indiana to late Bernard Ivan and Mary Ann (Whitt) Burtner. Dean graduated from Manuel High School in 1988 and was active in ROTC. He was the highest ranking in his region ranking as the Cadet Command Sergeant Major.

Dean married Teresa (Lewis) Burtner on September 12, 1992, and they have two children, Deanna Louise (Burtner) and her husband Craig Messer and Daniel Ray Burtner.

Dean was a Field Supervisor for Gaylor Electric for almost twenty years. He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Pendleton, Indiana. Dean loved spending time with his grandsons, Brody Dean (13), Javidson Ray (11), Bentley Ryan (9), Braylen Ray (7), and Blake Daniel (3) and was the best "Papaw" to “his boys.”

Dean loved working for Gaylor and also loved woodworking, building/remodeling and making things for his family. He was a strong man and a great provider for his family with a work ethic of “Superman.”  

Dean is survived by his wife, Teresa; their two children and five grandchildren; his brother, Dale Burtner and sister, Roberta (Whitt) Yates.
