David passed away peacefully Friday evening surrounded by family and friends after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was a loving husband, son, father, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend. David was proceeded in death by his parents; Ray and Genne (Brinegar) Sutherland, Father-in-law; Cleo Wilcher, Sister and Brother-in-law; Shirley and Damon “DD” Dagey and Brother; Glenn Sutherland.

He is survived by his wife of 45 + years; Denise (Wilcher) Sutherland, Children; Cleo, Jennifer (Yan) Sutherland-Sherman, David “Dwayne” (Kristi), Doug (Miranda), Bonus Son; Matt (Chani) Wuensch, Mother-in-law; Dorothy Wilcher, Uncle; George Brinegar, In-Laws; Larry (Cindy) Wilcher, Darlene (Mike) Bradley, Rosie (Doug) Bridges; Grandchildren; Lillian, David “Will”, Nash, Mason, Parker, River (arriving summer 2022), Hadley, Cecily, and Harrison. He also was loved by many nieces and nephews.  

David married the love of his life on June 19, 1976. He graduated from Franklin Central High School Class of 1973. He worked as a Union Glazer, Realtor and business owner of Sutherland’s Grill & Bar and Crazy Leg’s BBQ. He was also heavily involved in his community on the Franklin Township Civic League and Triton Central PTO, President of the Franklin Township Youth Little League Baseball, Board Member for the Franklin Township Youth Football League. He coached football at Triton Central High School and Youth organizations for Football, Baseball, Softball and he coached his sons across the U.S. in Wrestling. David was a Master Mason with the Sugar Creek Lodge #279 of Fairland, IN. He was an active member of the Boggstown Presbyterian Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
