David Anthony Hearst

Mr. David A. Hearst was born into the loving arms of Mr. Perry and Naomi Hearst Sr. in Spartanburg, South Carolina, September 17, 1958. David, was one of seven siblings, five sisters and one brother; siblings rarely agree on many things, yet they unanimously declared that David was clearly a “mama” boy, and she was most precious to him. 

Mr. Hearst attended Spartanburg High School. He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving during “Operation Just Cause” in Panama. As he moved forward in his career, he returned to his beloved Spartanburg, where he fulfilled his childhood dream to become a policeman, serving and protecting the city of Spartanburg as a police officer, retiring as a detective. 

In 2011, he could no longer resist the beautiful city of Indianapolis, where love blossomed and he married Portia Bullock. His union with Portia was precious, they enjoyed every moment together, fulfilling each other’s dreams as laughter filled their home and their hearts, yet his loves of cars was a close second, she called David the love her life, and he always smiled and his eyes sparked in agreement with her, every day seemed to be better than the day before. Basketball and football was “don’t bother me time,” 

David also had a love for music, hanging out with friends and collecting gadgets. 

David as well as Portia had enough love to share. David has two beautiful daughters, Carmetris Hearst, Keena Hearst, and a handsome son, David A. Hearst Jr. (Destini). 

David leaves behind sisters, Geraldine Wynn (Paul Foster), Christine Byrd, Terry Ann Doggett (Toney Rodgers), Tina Chappell (Garland Chappell). He is preceded in death by Brother Perry Hearst Jr.(D), Patricia D. Pearson (D) and parents Mr. and Mrs. Hearst Sr. (D). He leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Temontai Dandy (Ciara), Jykyya Hull, Kadin Hearst, Jahzyha Hearst, Jorian Hearst, Robin Bullock, Shalonda Bullock, Bobbi Bullock (D).
