David C. Allen, 72, of Indianapolis passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at Franciscan St. Francis of Indianapolis.
He was born on Monday, August 30, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Kenneth Cecil and Betty Lee (McDowell) Edison.
David was a 1966 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. On August 31, 1968 David married Miss Faye Cooper and spent 48 1/2 years together until her passing.
He was enlisted into the US Army from 1968 - 1970, serving one year in Vietnam.
David was a long-time employee of Standard Paint Co. in Indianapolis until they closed the doors. David Retired from CPC in Connersville, Indiana.
In his youth, David loved to play basketball and fish with his grandfather. He enjoyed being a part time D.J. with Faye at weddings and other events. He also loved music, was a sports enthusiast, a loyal Colts and Pacers fan, cooking, watching the Food Network Channel and his dog Gabby. He was known for his sense of humor and making jokes. David was a very tender-hearted man, aka, Faye's Teddy Bear.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Faye (Cooper) Allen; parents, Kenneth, and Betty; sister, Anita Allen; and grandparents, Samuel and Vivian McDowell.
David is survived by his brother, Mark Allen, and his wife Susan (Tossey) Allen; sister-in-law, Carolyn Sue Cooper; brother-in-law Brian Cooper and his wife Patty (Wright) Cooper; niece, Danielle (Cooper) Lenglade and her husband Chad Lenglade; nephew, Patrick Cooper, and his wife Ericka (Hulsing) Cooper; great nieces, Jo Ann Cooper, Paige Nicole Cooper, and many friends.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel.
