Darren Haggerty

Darren Haggerty, 62 passed away April 23, 2023 in Franklin, IN. He was born January 9, 1961 to Judson F. and Peg Haggerty who resided in Greenwood and preceded him in death.

Darren is survived by his brothers, Marc and Kevin Haggerty, both of Bloomington, IN, Bryan Haggerty of Florida, and Dana Haggerty-Smith (Steve) of Franklin, IN. Darren has many loving cousins, nephews and a niece and cherished stepfamily.

After graduating from Harmony School in Bloomington in 1980, Darren began his career as a talented percussionist, and occasional guitarist. He played with many local bands. A passionate fan of The Beatles, he particularly enjoyed the film Across the Universe.

Darren loved to ride his bike around beautiful Bloomington. He loved having coffee with friends at his favorite coffee house, the Runcible Spoon.  He loved flying and sailing and was a natural athlete who was equally at home on land or water. He was thrilled to have had the opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon.

He was proud of his community activism, with a focus on keeping the environment clean and he stood against any kind of oppression. He was always first to offer his handyman skills to family and friends.

He loved his life, and we loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 at 6:30pm at The Runcible Spoon located at 412 East 6th Street, Bloomington, Indiana.
