Cynthia Hayes

February 18, 1953 — May 15, 2020

Cynthia Sue Hayes passed away on Friday, May 20, 2020 at Spring Mill Meadows Health Care. She was born in Indianapolis on February 18,1953 to Frank and A. LaVene Hayes.

Cindy was residing at Spring Mill Meadow to rehabilitate from a recent stroke. We were notified on Wednesday, May 13th that Cindy had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and was resting peacefully.

Cindy spent 5 weeks at RHI before transferring to Spring Mill Meadows on the north side, where she was working daily to get better in hopes that she would no longer require 24 hour care. Cindy was unable to walk or communicate verbally so based on her compromised health, I prayerfully ask that we all celebrate Cindy’s life. We take comfort in the fact that as a follower of Christ, her fear is turned into faith. Our shared spiritual belief enables us to process through the grief and come to a place of acceptance, knowing Cindy is no longer suffering. We now rejoice, understanding that Cindy has found her place at the master’s table, in God’s, Royal, Everlasting family in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Simply put, life without Christ is a hopeless end: with Him, it is endless hope.

Cindy attended Bishop Chatard High School where she established her reputation of always putting her friends needs before her own. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was the source of my sister’s greatest joy. She spent over 32 years working in hospitality in one form or another at the Speedway. For the last 14 years she was Tony Stewart’s Suite Coordinator where she was made to feel loved by the whole Stewart family. It was in Tony’s turn two suite, where Cindy became a friendly, familiar face with all her wonderful racing friends. Cindy absolutely loved the track culture and cherished her interactions with every one of you.
Cindy was preceded in death, by her parents, Frank J and A. LaVene Hayes. She is survived by a brother, Joe (Linda) Hayes and 3 nieces thqt she adored.

In closing, we have decided to hold a memorial celebration, in honor of Cindy’s life at “The Roadside” in Westfield. Stay tuned for time and date to be determined later this summer when it’s safe. We will reach out through social media to share the
date and time for the celebration. Cindy’s passionate life at the track is best reflected by the following quote;

“Always remember, life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by those moments that take our breath away”.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation to the Tony Stewart Foundation in her honor.
