Cornell was the second of six siblings born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Dave and Minnie Sue Gadis.
Cornell attended Noble Center Schools and went on to secure employment through them. He loved learning and trying new things even if others believed he couldn’t. Whatever Cornell’s physical limitation might have been, it never prevented him from living and enjoying life to the fullest. He was treated the same as all his other siblings.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the head of Cornell’s life. He attended Greater Elim Baptist Church at an early age along with his family. He would often recite parts of Psalms 23. His favorite being “The Lord is my Shephard I shall not want.”
Cornell enjoyed sports. Basketball was his favorite and the Pacers were his team of choice. He loved music, singing, dancing, and good food (who are we kidding, Cornell loved all food). Cornell absolutely loved music!! You could often find him creating a beat by hitting on the table or whatever was nearby. He knew the lyrics to practically every song played, from gospel to R&B. He would sing until finally someone would have to tell him to “Be Quiet!” He would even sing commercial jingles while watching tv.
Cornell Gadis went home to the Lord on August 31, 2021 at the age of 66.
Cornell was preceded in death by his parents, and his two sisters Pamela J. Gadis and Sue Carolyn Hampton-Brown (Dwight).
He leaves to cherish his memory: His sisters Sharon J. Scales, Vernice Randle (Russell); brother Eric L. Gadis; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
