On May 8, 2021, Corinne (Cody) Nielsen, 94, of Noblesville, Indiana, entered into eternal life having achieved her often stated goal “to live to be 100 or die trying”. Cody was born November 1, 1926 to Ollie and Rebecca White Hardin; the 4th of their 5 children.
On June 8, 1946, Cody married Rodney Nielsen just 2 weeks after they first met. They went on to spend 69 years together before Rodney was called home to heaven in 2015. Together they raised a family of 8 children, worked hard, and served their LORD in the local congregations of the Christian church in the communities where they lived.
At the time of her passing, Cody was the sole survivor of her family of origin and had outlived most of her contemporary friends from both childhood and her working life. Thus her family is assured that Cody is enjoying a grand reunion in heaven even now with her parents Ollie and Reba; sisters Emma Lucy (Floyd) Sharpe and Florine (Glenn) Sparks, brothers Bud (Evelyn) Hardin and “Little” Edward Earle Hardin (who went home to heaven at just 4 years old).
She is survived by her children Jerry; Dale (Elaine); Debbi (Tom); Dan (Georgia); Rod (Lisa), Tim (Michele); Rebecca; & Andy (Patty); 13 Grandchildren; 18 (and counting) Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great-Grandson.
Cody was a beloved aunt, cousin, and friend who will be remembered by many. Her family wishes to acknowledge several very special ladies who helped them bring her home and care for her there this last year of her life including: her great niece Kiki Wolosonowich; caregivers Lucy Moit, Amy Bowman, Krista Horbett, and Gloria Boone; and dear friends Debbie Kaminski-Bustos and Loren Perdue. The family also thanks Brighton Hospice for helping us through this time.
A memorial service for Cody will be held at Venture Christian Church 14501 Hazel Dell Pkwy, Carmel, IN 46033 at 1:30 PM on May 14, 2021 with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM prior to the service. Burial will be at Union Chapel Cemetery, Indianapolis.
