Carmel

Clarence R. "Butch" Greene, 78, passed away due to complications from ALS on February 23, 2025, in Carmel, Indiana. Born on January 16, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, Butch lived a life marked by dedication to his family, sharing in life’s adventures with his wife for 40 years, sharing the love for the game of baseball with his son and being the best PaPa to his three granddaughters.

Butch graduated from Bowling Green University and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Even in “retirement”, Butch found joy in staying active by working at Home Depot, where he could share his knowledge and lend a helping hand to others. A self-proclaimed handyman, he took great pride in fixing things and tackling projects both big and small.

Butch cherished time spent with his family and had a special love for dogs. His beloved dog Maggie was always by his side, a constant companion who brought him great joy. He is survived by his wife, Kathy M. (Wilson), daughter Sara and her husband Nathan Strothmann along with their three daughters Evelyn, Dylan, and Quinn; son Alex and his soon to be wife Hannah Anderson; as well as many other friends and loved ones who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ellen Coppock (Kiefaber), father Clarence R. Greene Sr., stepfather Elmer Coppock, and stepmother Enid Greene.

Family and friends will gather from 9:00-10:30am on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel, IN 46033, with a Celebration of Life Mass following at 10:30am.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel Hospital for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family would love for a donation to be made in Butch’s name to the ALS Association or Humane Society for Hamilton County.
