November 4, 1967 - June 20, 2021

Clarence Anthony Chafin Sr. (Tony), age 53, of Indianapolis Indiana, died peacefully at home, on Sunday June 20th 2021.

He is survived by his wife of 32 yrs, Dawn, and his children; Clarence A. Chafin Jr. (C.J./Bubby), Aleria Megan (Chafin) Moon, and Kieran-Mayhew Chafin. Along with their spouses, Patrick Moon and Sarah Chafin. And his grandchildren; Ripley- Genevieve, Mason Lee, Piper Danielle, and (soon to be born) Keegan Anthony.

Tony was born in Elwood Indiana, on Saturday November 4, 1967, to
Sharon Ann (Reynolds) Chafin and Charles Lee Chafin. He has 5 older siblings; Charles Carlos (Chuck), Gloria, Lafe (Curt), Lemial (Lee), and Sybil. He also has 4 younger siblings; Christa, Brad, Nicole (Nikki), and Chara-Lee. In addition, he gained a second group of younger siblings, when his mother married John R. Jones (Rich) whom Tony so lovingly called "Pop". Their names are Debe, Laura, Joanna, Rick and Sara.

Tony was raised in Lawrence Indiana, by his parents, with loving, steady supportive help from his older Brother Lemial, his wife Jeannette, and his "Mamaw" (Madeline Hawkins-Reynolds-Hedrick). Tony spent many summers with his Mamaw, attending Bible study meetings at East Lawrence Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She helped to instill a sense of Love, responsibility, hard work, and caring for others. She guided him in his studies in the Holy Scriptures, which helped build a sound spiritual a sound spiritual foundation that would come to play a key role in his later adult life.

Tony Loved to be outdoors. To hike, fish, sit by a fire, or just walk quietly and listen to nature, was his "happy place". Nature was his "fortress of solitude" which he sought when life would overwhelm him.
He also enjoyed, archery, target shooting. He especially had an affinity for video games.

Tony truly lived up to the meaning and personality of his name...Gift from God; The name of Anthony gives you a clever, quick, analytical mind, but you suffer with a great deal of self-consciousness, lack of confidence, and much aloneness because of misunderstandings. You crave affection but seldom find anyone who understands your nature. Loving, compassionate, caring, can be the sweetest guy you meet. You are a person who is true to your ambitions and interests. Independent, creative, freethinker, and have strong leadership potential. You want to be in charge.
Tony was certainly all of these things, and more.

Life threw many difficult times and illnesses at Tony. He struggled with anxiety, depression, chronic pain caused by dystonia, migraines and brain damage he suffered from an accident, Deep down, Tony knew he had family, and an entire worldwide congregation of friends who loved him.
He did his best to be diligent at providing for his family, and staying focused on his favorite scriptural promise at Revelation 21:1-7; Isaiah 55 and 65:16-25, where the Bible promises all war will be gone and all people's will be peaceful with one another. There will be no more sickness, pain or death. And (Psalm 37:10, 11 + 29 ) The Earth will become a paradise again for all to live on and enjoy forever. His hope in these scriptures, helped him to remain grounded in rough times. He shared this hope with his wife, children, and with whomever would listen, because in his heart, he believed people deserve to be loved, to have peace in their lives, and need to have hope for something more than the struggles in this life. Tony lost his physical battle with cancer, but, he won the war for his heart, because he maintained his faith, and hope in Our Heavenly Father's promises, until the moment he died.

There will be no Funeral, but there will be a Memorial talk given in his honor, where we can talk, reminisce and celebrate his life, via Zoom link.
